From the recording Before Daylight in the Morning
I learned the first of these singles from fiddle/guitar duo Christina Smith and Jean Hewson. They learned it from a tape of fiddler Jack Fitzpatrick (1909-1986) of Lord's Cove. The Six-Handed Reel was the name of the dance that this tune was played for. The second tune is of one six that Mike Whalen (1907-1952), an accordion player from Cape Broyle, would play for a quadrille. Local accordion icon Minnie White (1918-2001) learned the last tune in the Mi'kmaq community of Conne River.
